The role:

Symal’s growing Plant, People and Logistics team are looking for an experienced Heavy Road Transport Diesel Mechanic to join their team.

Your every day:

  • Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair heavy road transport assets to meet company and OEM standards, ensuring compliance with roadworthy and safety requirements.
  • Report and document maintenance activities, including completing work orders, inspections, and uploading machine assessments and diagnostics with supporting images.
  • Maintain workshop and field service vehicles, ensuring cleanliness, proper labeling, and safe storage of tools and equipment in line with HSE standards.
  • Manage spare parts and consumables, including conducting monthly stock checks, restocking field service vehicles, and reporting faulty components to the Service Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with the Service Coordinator and maintenance team, providing advice on asset condition, assisting in fault analysis, and determining optimal repair strategies.

Who are you?

  • Qualified tradesperson with a Certificate III in Automotive (heavy stream preferred), demonstrating technical expertise in diesel mechanics.
  • Licensed heavy vehicle operator, holding a current Victorian Heavy Rigid Driver’s License (HC preferred), enabling safe and legal operation of transport assets.
  • Technically capable and organised, with beginner-level computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office for reporting and diagnostics.
  • Experienced in asset maintenance, with a proven track record of servicing, repairing, and ensuring compliance of heavy road transport equipment.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, able to multitask, prioritise daily business needs, and work independently while maintaining high performance standards.
