Symal is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Laing O’Rourke, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.
The role:
As our Alliance continues to grow, we are looking for a Plant Assessor to join the Asset and Logistics team in a permanent role.
Reporting to the Plant Coordinator, you will support the package with planning, directing and ensuring safe work practices regarding the control of plant/equipment. You will apply your expertise in assessing Plant arriving for induction/onboarding and checking they are compliant as per Project requirements. You will report back to suppliers or sub-contractors with any faults, breakdowns or maintenance concerns.
Your every day:
- Inspection of plant and equipment against the EBTA Primary Standards, Legislative requirements and project specific requirements
- Gather supporting information as per the Plant mobilisation documents and upload into the System and provide reports as required
- Conduct regular compliance checks to ensure Suppliers and project teams are notified of any upcoming inspection expiry dates
- Provide reports and data on Plant Safety & Environmental Management and issues
- Up-skill the site team in plant management and plant assessment through hands on and theoretical training
- Assist the project with Management of Breakdowns & Maintenance requirement for plant and equipment
- Ensure fuel utilisation is tracked and recorded against each asset.
Who are you?
- Trade Qualified - Mechanical (Diesel Fitter or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic)
- More than 5 years’ experience as a skilled tradesperson, specialising in the repair and maintenance of diesel engines in earthworks or mining equipment
- Ability to diagnose faults or identify maintenance concerns with cranes, telehandlers and forklifts
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with site and office staff as well as sub-contractors/suppliers
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to safe working practices as they relate to the type of works to be performed
- Competency using MS Office suite eg. Word and Outlook (email)
- Ability to travel to and work from site offices in the eastern suburbs – Bulleen, Doncaster, North Balwyn and Nunawading
- Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency required, as this is a permanent, full-time position
