The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east

Symal is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Laing O’Rourke, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.

The role:

As our Alliance continues to grow, we are looking for a Digital Engineering Lead to join the Engineering & Design team in a permanent role.

Reporting to the Digital Lead, you will understand and drive the delivery of the project’s Digital Engineering portion of the overall Digital strategy.

Your every day:

  • Implement the Digital Engineering Management Plan and the digital client requirements
  • Support the projects deliver phase services through a combination of effective stakeholder engagement and technical implementation as required
  • Responsible for digital engineering performance across the project and ensure deliver of work to the plan
  • Work in conjunction with the Digital Lead to deliver EBTA digital plans
  • Identify and escalate issues and risk in design or constructability
  • Support and develop capability within the digital team and within the project teams
  • Develops and maintains excellent relationships with all stakeholders within the Alliance

Who are you?

  • Bachelor’s Degree or tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction or related
  • More than 10 years’ experience of digital leadership or management on Major Projects eg. Infrastructure, Rail, Road etc.
  • Significant experience in Project delivery
  • Demonstrated a strong technical understanding of digital engineering and strategy implementation to support project delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with and lead large digital teams as well as actively support and develop those within the team
  • Ability to travel to and work from site offices in the eastern suburbs
  • Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency required, as this is a permanent, full-time position
