The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east
Symal is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Laing O’Rourke, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.
The role:
As our Alliance continues to grow, we are looking a Traffic Project Engineer to join the Traffic team in a permanent role.
Reporting to the Package Traffic Manager, you will provide engineering services and technical support, to ensure the planning implementation and maintenance of traffic management is carried out accordingly within specified guidelines.
Your every day:
- Ensure the implementation of traffic management works is carried out within specifications, applicable legislation, approvals and standards
- Liaising with the construction team to ensure all traffic management requirements are enable
- Conduct and administer job planning and programming with minimal disruption to the surrounding road network
- Ensure traffic management control devices are ordered and supplied on time and when needed
- Demonstrate financial management skills by maintaining daily cost tracking, weekly reporting and striving to meet budgets
- Managing risk and engaging with project teams to ensure adequate planning and approvals are undertaken
- Ensuring compliance in relation to local authorities and traffic management requirements
- Ensure the safety of Project staff, workforce and general public with the use of appropriate Traffic Management plans and control devices during construction activities
Who are you?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant tertiary qualifications
- More than 6 years’ Engineering experience, preferably site based
- More than 3 years’ experience in Traffic Engineering
- Experience implementing traffic management works within specifications, applicable legislations, approvals and standards
- Experience working in Construction in Infrastructure, Rail or Road Projects
- Ability to travel to and work from site offices in the eastern suburbs
- Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency required, as this is a permanent, full-time position
