Make it yours

Experience the excitement of building your career in our evolving construction company, where people and performance make amazing things happen.

Join our Assets team and play a hands-on role keeping our workshop, yard, plant and equipment organised, maintained and ready to support projects across the business.

Who we are

We're Symal, a proudly different group of companies with a story of significant growth, pushing what's possible as one of Australia's largest self-performing contractors.

We innovate with intent, problem solving and delivering the best outcomes to our partners, communities and each other. That's what has made Symal a success and will continue to into the future.

It's not what we do that defines us, it's how we do it, building better together.

The role

We're looking for a reliable and hands-on Yardperson to join our Symal Assets Maintenance team.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you'll work closely with our mechanics, trade assistants and wider workshop team to prepare plant and equipment for projects, maintain an organised and safe yard, and ensure tools, materials and spare parts are available when they're needed.

You'll get exposure to a broad range of construction plant and equipment, making this a great opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude who enjoys practical work and wants to develop their skills within the construction industry.

Your everyday:

  • Prepare, wash and detail plant and equipment to ensure it's clean, safe and ready for mobilisation.
  • Support workshop trades with equipment handling, inspections, minor servicing and repairs within your level of competency.
  • Operate forklifts, loaders and other plant where appropriately licensed and authorised.
  • Load, unload and move plant, materials, tools and equipment safely around the workshop and yard.
  • Maintain accurate records of plant, equipment, tools and site assets, including their condition and location.
  • Manage consumables, spare parts and yard stock, completing regular stock checks and identifying shortages.
  • Keep the workshop and yard clean, organised and safe while proactively identifying and reporting hazards, defects and maintenance requirements.

Who are you?

  • Previous experience in a construction yard, workshop, plant, logistics or similar hands-on environment will be highly regarded.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an interest in construction plant and equipment.
  • Forklift or plant operating tickets are desirable.
  • Organised and reliable with good attention to detail and the ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Safety focused, self-motivated and comfortable working as part of a hands-on workshop team.
