Symal is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our delivery team on the $347M Gawara Baya Wind Farm in North Queensland.
This is a major 400MW renewable energy project involving significant earthworks, internal roads, drainage, concrete structures and associated civil infrastructure.
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of the project, working closely with the Project Manager, Construction Managers and site leadership team to drive engineering, technical and construction outcomes.
This is an opportunity to take a senior role on a major renewable infrastructure project and work on a project of genuine scale and complexity.
About the Role
Reporting into the project leadership team, you will be responsible for managing engineering and technical delivery across your allocated areas of the project.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading engineering and technical delivery across the project
- Providing technical leadership and support to construction teams
- Managing subcontractors, consultants and suppliers
- Developing and reviewing construction methodologies, ITPs and technical documentation
- Monitoring progress, quality, costs and technical compliance
- Supporting project planning, programming and reporting
- Managing engineering deliverables and technical documentation
- Identifying and resolving construction and engineering issues
- Working closely with Supervisors, Project Managers and the wider delivery team
- Supporting the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of works
- Contributing to project controls, commercial outcomes and continuous improvement
About You
You will be an experienced Senior Project Engineer with a strong background in Australian civil construction and major infrastructure delivery.
We are looking for:
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification
- Strong Australian civil construction experience
- Demonstrated experience delivering major infrastructure projects
- Strong experience across earthworks, roads, drainage and/or concrete
- Experience managing subcontractors and technical deliverables
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, quality and project controls
- Sound commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively within a remote project environment
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing project team
- Experience across renewable energy, wind farms or other major civil infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.

Located approximately 2.5 hours from Townsville, Gawara Baya is a major 400MW wind farm project being delivered by Symal.
The project includes:
- $347M D&C project
- 400MW renewable energy project
- 68 wind turbine generators
- 78km of internal roads
- 1.8 million m³ of earthworks
- 55,000 m³ of concrete
- 800,000 tonnes of gravel
- 142 culverts
- 60m Michael Creek bridge
- Peak workforce of approximately 300 people
