Project Engineer – Civil

Symal Infrastructure is delivering the major civil works package for the Gawara Baya Wind Farm, a landmark renewable energy project located in Northern Queensland. We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer – Civil to join our project team and play a key role in delivering complex civil construction works across the project.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating civil construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day engineering requirements across civil construction activities
- Develop and monitor short-term construction programs, including three-week look-ahead schedules
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor requirements to meet project milestones
- Assist with procurement, contract administration, variations, and progress claims
- Monitor project costs, productivity, and performance against targets
- Manage quality assurance processes, including ITPs, inspections, and documentation
- Support safety leadership through SWMS reviews, audits, pre-starts, and site engagement
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal project stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and project outcomes
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent
- Approximately 3+ years’ experience in civil construction
- Experience delivering general civil infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, quality requirements, and project controls
- Experience with project programming, procurement, and subcontractor management
- Ability to work collaboratively within a site-based construction team
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to safe and quality outcomes
