Symal is growing, and we’re looking for a Safety Administrator to join our HSEQ team in Townsville.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and proactive administrator who is looking to build a career in health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) within the civil construction industry.
Based in our Townsville office Monday to Friday, you’ll work closely with our HSEQ Manager, project teams and construction leaders to ensure our safety systems, records, training and compliance requirements are kept up to date and running smoothly.

About the role
As Safety Administrator, you’ll provide essential administrative and systems support to the HSEQ team and our construction projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining HSEQ databases, registers, training records and compliance documentation
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of Symal’s HSEQ management systems
- Assisting with safety inspections, audits and HSEQ activities
- Supporting project teams with the close-out of audit actions and corrective actions
- Coordinating and maintaining project HSEQ documentation
- Supporting incident reporting and investigation processes
- Gathering and recording incident investigation information and documentation
- Assisting with project onboarding and compliance requirements
- Supporting employees and subcontractors with HSEQ systems and documentation
- Providing administrative support for systems including HammerTech, RIW and 3D Safety
- Ensuring training and compliance records are accurate and up to date
- Supporting monthly HSEQ reporting and data collection
- Assisting with client HSEQ documentation, meetings and compliance requirements
- Supporting internal and external audits and accreditation requirements
- Distributing audit schedules and following up outstanding actions
- Assisting the HSEQ team with reporting, document control and general administration
- Identifying opportunities to improve HSEQ administration, systems and processes
About you
We’re looking for someone who is organised, reliable and enjoys keeping systems and processes running efficiently.
You’ll ideally have:
- 2–3 years’ experience in construction administration, HSEQ administration or a similar role
- Experience working within civil construction or infrastructure is highly regarded
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Confidence working with databases, registers and online systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn
- The ability to work collaboratively with project and construction teams
- Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent is desirable
- Certificate III in WHS is highly regarded
- Current Driver Licence
- White Card
- Level 2 First Aid
- Rail Industry Worker Card is desirable
- Experience with HammerTech, RIW or 3D Safety will be highly regarded
