COMMERCIAL ADVISOR – MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT

Symal Infrastructure is delivering the Gawara Baya Wind Farm, a major renewable energy infrastructure project in North Queensland. We are looking for an experienced Commercial Advisor to join the project team and play a key role in the commercial and contractual management of this significant project.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Contracts Administrator looking to take the next step in their career and work on a major infrastructure project with genuine commercial complexity.
About the role
Reporting into the project commercial team, you will support the management of both upstream and downstream contracts, working closely with Project Engineers, Superintendents, Scheduling, Legal and senior project stakeholders.
You will be responsible for ensuring contractual obligations are understood and managed, commercial risks are identified early, and variations, claims, payments and contractual documentation are effectively controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
Upstream / Head Contract
- Analyse head contract terms and conditions and ensure contractual compliance
- Track key milestones, deliverables and contractual obligations
- Manage variations, extensions of time and other contract modifications
- Prepare and submit payment claims in accordance with contract requirements
- Manage EOT, prolongation, disruption and other commercial claims in conjunction with the Scheduler
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive contractual records
- Support internal and external audits and contractual compliance requirements
- Downstream / Subcontractor & Supplier Contracts
- Manage the documentation and execution of downstream contracts in conjunction with Legal and Project Engineers
- Review approved subcontractor and supplier payment claims
- Manage change orders, variations and amendments in consultation with Senior Project Engineers and Project Engineers
- Track costs and assist with payment-related disputes
- Ensure required insurances, warranties and contractual documentation are in place
- Ensure downstream contracts comply with legal, regulatory and company requirements
- Manage contract close-outs and terminations where required
- Maintain accurate records of contracts, amendments, correspondence and payment certificates
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits
About you
We are looking for a commercially minded Contracts Administrator / Commercial professional who enjoys working across both the contractual and operational sides of a major project.
- 4–5 years' experience in Contracts Administration or a similar commercial role
- Experience working within civil construction, infrastructure, renewable energy or major projects
- Strong understanding of head and downstream contracts
- Experience managing variations, claims, EOTs and payment processes
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness
- Excellent attention to detail and document management skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with Project Engineers, Legal, Scheduling and project leadership
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Construction, Building, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline is preferred
