Make it yours

Experience the excitement of building your planning and project controls career in our evolving construction company, where people and performance make amazing things happen.

Who we are

We're Symal, a proudly different group of companies with a story of significant growth, pushing what's possible as one of Australia's largest self-performing contractors.

We innovate with intent, problem solving and delivering the best outcomes to our partners, communities and each other. That's what has made Symal a success and will continue to into the future.

It's not what we do that defines us, it's how we do it, building better together.

The role:

We're looking for an experienced Planner to join our Symal Infrastructure team. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing, maintaining, monitoring and optimising project schedules that support the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of major civil infrastructure projects.

Working closely with project delivery teams, commercial stakeholders and clients, you'll provide critical planning support that enables projects to meet contractual obligations, identify risks and opportunities early, and drive successful project outcomes.

Your everyday

  • Develop, maintain and optimise project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Work with project teams to monitor progress, identify critical path activities and provide program reporting and forecasting.
  • Support project delivery through delay analysis, extension of time claims and schedule risk management.
  • Develop resource-loaded schedules, earned value reporting and cashflow forecasting.
  • Assist tender teams with the preparation and review of tender programs and planning methodologies.

Who are you?

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Previous planning experience within civil construction, infrastructure or major projects environments.
  • Advanced capability using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project controls, scheduling and contract requirements.
  • A collaborative communicator with strong analytical skills and the ability to influence and build relationships across project teams.
