Who we are

We're Symal, a proudly different group of companies with a story of significant growth, pushing what’s possible as one of Australia’s largest self-performing contractors.

We innovate with intent – problem solving and delivering the best outcomes to our partners, communities and each other - that’s what has made Symal a success and will continue to into the future.

It’s not what we do that defines us, it’s how we do it, building better together.

The role

We're looking for an exceptional Executive Assistant to support our Managing Director and serve as a trusted partner within our executive leadership team.

This is a pivotal role that goes beyond traditional executive support. You'll be responsible for enabling the Managing Director to operate at their best by managing competing priorities, driving executive readiness and ensuring the seamless coordination of strategic business activities.

Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, you'll play a critical role in supporting key business priorities, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and providing high-quality governance support. You'll bring structure, foresight and efficiency to a complex and ever-changing schedule, allowing the Managing Director to focus on leading the business and delivering strategic outcomes.

You will also provide support to the Chair and Non-Executive Directors as required, contributing to effective Board operations and strong governance practices.

Your everyday

  • Manage and optimise the Managing Director's diary, ensuring time is strategically aligned to business priorities and key stakeholder commitments.

  • Coordinate and prepare executive briefings, Board papers, agendas and meeting materials to support effective decision-making and executive readiness.

  • Manage executive communications, correspondence and stakeholder interactions with professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.

  • Provide governance support for Board and Committee activities, including meeting coordination, documentation, minutes and action tracking.

  • Coordinate travel, executive events and key business initiatives while ensuring seamless support across a demanding and evolving schedule.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted representative of the Managing Director.

Who are you?

You're an experienced Executive Assistant who thrives in a high-performing environment and enjoys being one step ahead. You are organised, proactive and adaptable, with a natural ability to build relationships, manage competing priorities and navigate complexity with confidence.

You'll Bring:

  • Significant experience supporting a Managing Director, CEO or senior executive in a complex corporate environment.

  • Experience working within a Board-facing, governance-focused or ASX-listed organisation.

  • Exceptional planning, organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to anticipate needs and proactively solve problems.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.

  • Strong judgement, professionalism and a demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

  • A resilient, solutions-focused mindset and a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional support and outcomes.
