The role:

Symal Infrastructure NSW have an opportunity for an experienced and motivated Site Engineer to join the business, initially based on the Wollombi Road Upgrade Project in Cessnock, NSW.

The Wollombi Road Project includes a 2.9km upgrade of Wollombi Road between Abbotsford Street, Bellbird and West Avenue, Cessnock as well as a new intersection at Bellbird North, and is essential to accommodate current and forecasted traffic growth and to alleviate congestion in the area.

Symal are delivering high-quality infrastructure works including new traffic signals, signalised pedestrian crossings and improvements to street lighting, footpaths, stormwater and kerb and gutter.

Due to location, DIDO and LAFHA available for those eligible.

Your everyday:

As a Site Engineer you will support the delivery of construction by coordinating technical aspects of site operations, support cost tracking, reporting and continuous improvement across project delivery.

Working closely with your team and Project Manager, you will oversee quality assurance, manage subcontractor activities, and contribute to safety and environmental compliance.  

  • Coordinating day to day activities and acting as a point of escalation for critical and non-critical events
  • Managing subcontractor packages of works including on site coordination between work fronts and different disciplines
  • Coordinate material delivery, tracking and reporting
  • Undertaking quality inspections and review of works including ITP completion
  • Tracking of daily progress and productivity and reporting
  • Provide input to program for both completed activities and look ahead.

Who are you?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction or similar
  • More than 4 years of delivery experience working in a site-based role in Construction, preferably on a road, rail, or major infrastructure project
  • Experience delivering Civil scopes with technical knowledge around design, planning and construction methods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with all stakeholders, sub-contractors and site staff
  • Proven experience maintaining documentation and systems for Quality, Safety and Environment
  • Proven experience in tracking daily progress, productivity, reporting and planning 4+ week lookahead
  • Commitment to Health and Safety protocols
  • Ability to travel to and work from Cessnock, approx. 1.5 hours from Newcastle, NSW
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable mode of transport
