The role:
- Support the development and continual improvement of health and safety systems tailored to VIC Infrastructure, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and industry best practice
- Plan and conduct internal audits to assess compliance with Symal’s broader H&S management systems and accreditation requirements
- Recommend and implement updates to health and safety systems, safety data dashboards and reporting tools to ensure they reflect current governance and operational needs
- Facilitate collaboration between BU leadership teams, project teams and health and safety teams to ensure systems are embedded effectively
- Collaborate with the national Infrastructure BU and broader Symal Group HSEQ cohort to ensure alignment in approach and consistency
- Mentor and support project and health and safety team members to build capability and reinforce system-aligned behaviours
- Deliver training and guidance on health and safety systems and compliance platforms (e.g. Hammertech, RIW, client systems and other as required)
- Support divisions in maintaining and achieving accreditations (Work Health Safety Scheme, ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO45001, OFSC, etc.) and client pre-qualifications
Who are you?
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in H&S roles within the construction or infrastructure sector, with a focus on systems, governance, and strategic improvement highly regarded
- Formal qualifications in Work Health & Safety (min Certificate 4).
- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, standards (Work Health Safety Scheme, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OFSC), and industry frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and system-level corrective actions including the use of software platforms
- Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders across all levels of a business.
- Experience with compliance platforms such as Hammertech, Lucidity, SolvInjury, RIW, and client-specific systems.
- Current Victorian Driver’s License
