Health & Safety Advisor – DIDO | Major 400MW Renewable Project | Townsville

DIDO from Townsville | Relocation to Townsville considered | Long-Term Project | Major Renewable Energy Project

Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with solid Australian wind farm experience.

Join Symal Infrastructure and play a key role in delivering the civil works package for a major 400MW renewable energy project, located approximately 2.5 hours from Townsville.

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor with strong Australian wind farm experience to join our project team. This is a hands-on site-based role where you’ll work closely with project leadership, supervisors, subcontractors and frontline crews to drive a proactive safety culture and ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced H&S professional who is looking to secure a long-term role on a major renewable energy project while being based in Townsville.

About the role

As the Health & Safety Advisor, you’ll be a visible and hands-on safety leader on site, partnering with project managers, supervisors, employees and subcontractors to embed safe work practices and continually improve safety performance.

You’ll spend significant time in the field, providing practical safety advice, coaching teams and identifying opportunities to improve safety outcomes across a large-scale wind farm construction environment.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Champion a proactive health and safety culture across the project
  • Provide practical H&S advice to project leaders, supervisors and frontline crews
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, observations and compliance checks
  • Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions
  • Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, project requirements and company standards
  • Assist with risk assessments, SWMS reviews and safety planning
  • Support toolbox talks, pre-starts and safety initiatives
  • Identify hazards and drive effective risk controls
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors and project stakeholders
  • Contribute to continual improvement of H&S systems and processes

 

About you

You are a practical and confident Health & Safety professional who enjoys being in the field and working directly with construction teams.

 

To be considered, you must have:

  • Solid Australian wind farm construction experience – essential
  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role on major construction, renewable energy or infrastructure projects
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits and incident investigations
  • Strong knowledge of risk management and safety systems
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • White Card
  • Current Australian Driver Licence
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency – essential
  • Currently living in Townsville or willing to relocate to Townsville and live there full-time – essential

Experience working across large-scale civil construction and renewable energy projects, together with knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems, will be highly regarded.
