The role:
As a Surveyor at Symal Contractors, you’ll play a critical role in delivering accurate, high-quality surveying services across a variety of civil construction projects. You’ll be responsible for both field and office-based survey work, including set-out, as-built, control, and conformance surveys, as well as producing detailed reporting, models, and volumes using industry-leading software. Working closely with engineers, supervisors, and site teams, you’ll interpret IFC drawings, operate modern surveying technology, and ensure all works are delivered safely, accurately, and to specification.
Your everyday:
- Deliver precise set-out, as-built, and conformance surveys across civil construction projects
- Operate advanced surveying systems including Topcon / Trimble GPS, total stations, and machine control
- Produce digital terrain models, volumes, and survey reports using AutoCAD and Trimble Business Centre
- Interpret IFC drawings and work closely with engineers and site teams to resolve design and site challenges
- Maintain strong safety leadership while ensuring compliance with SWMS and quality systems
- Manage survey data, registers, and documentation to support efficient project delivery and commercial performance
Who are you?
- Certificate IV in Surveying (or equivalent) with strong civil/infrastructure experience Minimum 3+ years’ surveying experience in civil or construction environments
- Proven experience with Trimble equipment including GPS, total stations, and machine control systems
- Experience with Topcon or similar surveying platforms (Trimble highly regarded)
- Strong skills in AutoCAD and Trimble Business Centre for survey processing and reporting
- Confident in reading and interpreting IFC drawings and working collaboratively with site and engineering teams
- Highly detail-focused with a strong commitment to accuracy, safety, and delivering high-quality outcomes on time
- Current Queensland Driver’s Licence with ability to travel to project sites
