Who we are
We're Symal, a proudly different group of companies with a story of significant growth, pushing what’s possible as one of Australia’s largest self-performing contractors.
We innovate with intent – problem solving and delivering the best outcomes to our partners, communities and each other - that’s what has made Symal a success and will continue to into the future.
It’s not what we do that defines us, it’s how we do it, building better together.
The role:
Reporting directly to the CEO, with a dotted-line relationship to the Executive Director, you will play a key role in helping drive business performance, accountability, and strategic execution across the Symal Group.
You will oversee executive reporting cycles, prepare concise and insightful CEO briefings, represent the CEO in meetings across the organisation, manage critical follow-through on business priorities, and support integration activities across acquisitions.
Success in this role means ensuring nothing falls off the CEO's priorities list while enabling leaders across the business to achieve outcomes efficiently and effectively.
Your everyday:
- Drive accountability across the business by tracking CEO priorities, following up on commitments, and ensuring actions are delivered through to completion.
- Prepare concise executive briefings, board summaries, and meeting pre-reads that equip the CEO with clear recommendations, risks, and decision points.
- Own the executive reporting cadence, coordinating business performance, revenue, work-in-hand, cash flow, and board reporting across multiple stakeholders.
- Act as the CEO's representative in meetings across the organisation, providing insights, challenging assumptions, and reporting back on key outcomes and risks.
- Support merger and acquisition integration activities by tracking milestones, monitoring progress, and ensuring critical actions remain on course.
- Manage the flow of strategic approvals to the CEO, ensuring submissions are complete, prioritised, and progressed efficiently to support business outcomes.
Who are you?
- 8+ years' experience in a Chief of Staff, senior business management, commercial leadership, consulting, strategy, or similar role.
- Experience working directly with senior executive stakeholders, including CEOs, COOs, CFOs, CPOs, or Executive General Managers.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including the ability to interpret financial reports, revenue performance, work-in-hand, and cash flow information.
- Demonstrated experience influencing and driving accountability without direct authority.
- Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to synthesise complex information into concise executive summaries.
- Experience managing reporting cycles and coordinating information from multiple stakeholders.
- High levels of judgement, discretion, and professionalism.
- Strong proficiency using AI and technology to improve efficiency, analysis, and decision-making.
- A proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
