Make it yours
Experience the excitement of building your Plant & Assets career in our evolving construction company, where people and performance make amazing things happen.
Who we are
We're Symal, a proudly different group of companies with a story of significant growth, pushing what’s possible as one of Australia’s largest self-performing contractors.
We innovate with intent – problem solving and delivering the best outcomes to our partners, communities and each other - that’s what has made Symal a success and will continue to into the future.
It’s not what we do that defines us, it’s how we do it, building better together.
The role:
As our Maintenance Manager, you’ll lead the safe, efficient and cost-effective management of plant and assets to support operational delivery across the business. You’ll ensure our fleet is maintained to company, OEM and legislative standards while maximising availability, reliability and lifecycle value. This is a hands-on leadership role with accountability across maintenance performance, budgeting and forecasting, contractor management and HSEQ outcomes.
Your Everyday:
- Plan, coordinate and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance to keep plant and assets safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
- Manage asset downtime, breakdowns and repairs to minimise disruption to operational delivery.
- Lead and develop maintenance employees, apprentices and contractors through clear expectations, coaching and performance management.
- Own maintenance financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, forecasting and monthly reporting.
- Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with HSEQ policies, legislation and OEM requirements.
Who are you?
- Relevant trade qualification (Diesel Mechanic Road/Earthmoving) or equivalent plant/asset maintenance experience.
- Proven leadership experience managing maintenance teams and contractors in a safety-critical environment.
- Strong commercial and financial capability, including budgeting, cost control and P&L reporting.
- Solid understanding of preventative/corrective maintenance practices, asset reliability and lifecycle management.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
