Undergraduate Civil Engineer | DIDO | Adelaide – Part time or Full Time
Kick-start your civil engineering career on major projects with Symal.
We’re looking for an Undergraduate Civil Engineer based in Adelaide who is ready to get out on site, gain genuine project experience and build the foundations for a career in civil construction.
This is a DIDO opportunity from Adelaide, giving you hands-on exposure to the delivery of civil infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced Project Managers, Project Engineers, Supervisors and site teams.
At Symal, you won’t be sitting on the sidelines. You’ll be involved in the day-to-day delivery of the project and gain practical experience across engineering, programming, commercial management, quality, safety and subcontractor coordination.
What you’ll be doing
Working closely with the project team, you’ll assist with:
- Developing and monitoring project programs and three-week lookaheads
- Coordinating plant, materials, subcontractors and procurement
- Tracking project productivity, costs and critical activities
- Supporting progress claims, variations and commercial administration
- Preparing purchase orders and subcontract documentation
- Managing drawings, RFIs and project registers
- Maintaining Inspection and Test Plans and quality documentation
- Assisting with hold points, testing and project certifications
- Participating in site meetings, pre-starts and toolbox talks
- Supporting safety, environmental and quality requirements
- Building strong relationships with supervisors, subcontractors and clients
Most importantly, you’ll gain an understanding of how civil projects are actually delivered from the ground up.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Currently studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Keen to build a career in civil construction and project delivery
- Comfortable working in a site-based environment
- Willing and able to work DIDO from Adelaide
- Organised, proactive and willing to learn
- Confident communicating with different people across a project
- Safety and quality focused
- Able to balance university commitments with practical industry experience
- Holds a current Australian driver's licence
Previous construction or site experience will be highly regarded, but what matters most is your attitude, curiosity and willingness to get involved.
