The role:

As Pre-Contracts Manager, you will lead the pre-contracts and estimating function, driving tender strategy, managing submissions, and positioning Wamarra to win and successfully deliver projects. You will play a key role in identifying new opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring tenders are commercially sound, competitive, and aligned with delivery capability.

You will oversee the full tender lifecycle from opportunity identification and bid strategy through to contract negotiation and project handover while mentoring estimators and fostering a high-performing, collaborative team environment.

Your everyday:

  • Lead the pre-contracts and estimating team to prepare high-quality, competitive tender submissions
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, building strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders
  • Develop tender strategies, manage risk, and ensure submissions align with commercial and delivery objectives
  • Oversee contract negotiations, tender interviews, and project handovers to delivery teams
  • Mentor and develop estimators, fostering a high-performance and collaborative team culture
  • Support business growth through market analysis, strategic planning, and work-winning initiatives

Who are you?

  • Extensive experience in estimating, pre-contracts, or construction management
  • Proven experience managing tenders for civil infrastructure projects (ideally $20M+)
  • Strong leadership experience managing estimating teams
  • Excellent commercial acumen and risk management capability
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and client relationship skills
  • Civil Engineering degree or equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience using estimating software such as Expert Estimation (desirable)
