Regional Maintenance Manager – Civil Infrastructure & Heavy Plant
Lead the fleet. Drive performance. Build the standard.
Unyte is looking for an experienced Regional Maintenance Manager to lead and strengthen our maintenance operations across Queensland.
This is a critical leadership role overseeing the performance, reliability, and lifecycle management of our heavy civil fleet.
We’re not looking for someone who has only managed from behind a desk.
We want a hands-on maintenance leader who understands civil construction from the ground up — someone who has worked around plant, equipment, workshops, and project delivery environments, and knows what “good” looks like on site.
You’ll bring structure, accountability, and consistency across multiple workshops and maintenance teams while improving fleet reliability, reducing downtime, and driving smarter maintenance practices across the region which is Brisbane.
This is an opportunity to genuinely shape how maintenance is run across a growing civil infrastructure business.
Who we are:
We're Unyte, a team of problem solvers that have seen it all and conquered the lot, delivering construction projects across the country as a principal contractor and supporting partner.
With a history stretching back decades, we focus on tailored solutions and reliable delivery in complex project environments, with one of the nation’s largest fleet of plant and operators.
Backed by the resources of Symal, a national construction group, we’re breaking new ground with limitless capability.
The role:
Reporting into senior leadership, you will take ownership of regional maintenance operations across a diverse heavy fleet supporting civil and infrastructure projects throughout Queensland.
You’ll lead workshop teams, improve systems and processes, manage budgets and suppliers, and work closely with operational leaders to ensure equipment performance supports project delivery.
This role combines leadership, strategy, and practical operational knowledge.
Your everyday:
- Leading maintenance teams across multiple workshops and locations
- Driving fleet reliability, availability, and asset performance
- Reducing downtime and improving preventative maintenance practices
- Managing maintenance budgets, spend, and cost control initiatives
- Standardising maintenance systems, reporting, and processes across the region
- Overseeing workshop operations, scheduling, and maintenance planning
- Managing suppliers, OEMs, subcontractors, and external service providers
- Supporting operational teams to ensure projects have the equipment they need
- Improving asset lifecycle management and long-term fleet planning
- Building accountability, structure, and strong team culture across maintenance operations
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across fleet and maintenance performance
About You:
You are an experienced maintenance leader who understands the realities of civil construction and heavy plant environments.
You’ve likely come from a mechanical, diesel fitting, heavy vehicle, or plant background and have progressed into leadership roles managing workshops, fleets, or regional maintenance functions.
You’re respected because you understand operations on the ground — not just in spreadsheets.
To Be Successful You Will Have:
- 10+ years’ experience within civil construction, infrastructure, mining, or heavy industry
- Strong heavy plant and fleet maintenance experience
- Experience managing workshops or multi-site maintenance operations
- Proven ability to lead teams and improve maintenance performance
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance and asset lifecycle management
- Experience managing maintenance budgets and controlling costs
- Ability to build structure, accountability, and consistency across teams
- Strong stakeholder management skills with operations and project teams
- Experience using CMMS / ERP maintenance systems
- Mechanical trade qualification or engineering background highly regarded
- Willingness to travel regionally when required
