Make it yours
This is your opportunity to step into a Project Engineer role where you’ll take real ownership of delivery outcomes across complex civil infrastructure projects in Brisbane and greater Queensland – On and Off various sites and projects.
At Symal, we’re not another tiered contractor where you get boxed into one part of the job. You’ll be trusted with end-to-end project delivery influence — program, commercial performance, safety, quality, and stakeholder management — in a self-performing environment built for people who want accountability and progression.
If you’re currently with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor and want more ownership, visibility, and faster career progression, this is the move.
Who we are
We’re Symal — a rapidly growing, self-performing civil contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across Australia.
We’re built differently. We combine strong delivery capability with a hands-on, problem-solving culture where good ideas are acted on quickly and performance is recognised.
We don’t just build projects — we build capability, careers, and better ways of delivering infrastructure.
The role:
You’ll join a high-performing project team delivering civil infrastructure works across water, utilities, and transport sectors in Queensland.
Projects are fast-paced, technically challenging, and delivered in a self-performing environment where you’ll be close to the action every day — not sitting on the sidelines.
Your everyday:
Project delivery & program control
- 3-week lookaheads, sequencing, and construction programming
- Procurement coordination and resource planning
- Weekly reporting and progress tracking
Commercial & cost performance
- Support variations and progress claims
- Track cost-to-complete and productivity
- Assist with procurement and cost control to protect margin
Site leadership & stakeholder management
- Work closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, clients, and subcontractors
- Drive clear communication and strong delivery relationships
Safety leadership (HSEQ)
- Lead toolbox talks, SWMS, and site compliance
- Support audits, risk identification, and safe systems of work
Quality assurance
- Oversee ITPs, inspections, and defect management
- Ensure right-first-time delivery and close-out excellence
Who are you?
You are already working in civil construction and ready for more responsibility and faster growth.
You will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent)
- 3+ years’ experience in civil construction (Tier 1 or Tier 2 preferred)
- Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, and site delivery
- Exposure to project controls, cost tracking, or commercial support
- Experience with Jobpac or Expert Estimation (advantageous)
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites
Most importantly, you are commercially aware, delivery-focused, and motivated by ownership — not just task execution.
