Unyte is looking for an experienced Estimator to join our pre-contracts team and play a key role in securing civil infrastructure projects.

This isn't a role where you'll simply price what's put in front of you. You'll take ownership of tenders from initial review through to submission and handover, challenging methodology, identifying risk and opportunity, engaging the market and helping us put forward competitive, commercially sound bids.

What you'll be doing

• Manage civil tenders from Go/No-Go and kick-off through to final review and submission
• Review specifications, drawings, RFQs and tender documentation
• Manage detailed 2D and 3D quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities
• Build accurate estimates covering labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and project overheads
• Develop construction methodologies, staging and traffic management approaches
• Prepare detailed estimates using Expert Estimation
• Source, engage and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering solutions
• Challenge delivery methodologies to achieve competitive outcomes
• Lead and coordinate bid responsibilities across project-specific tender teams
• Prepare and present tender submissions and participate in client tender interviews
• Manage post-tender clarifications and negotiations
• Prepare successful tenders for handover into the construction team, including project budgets and start-up documentation
• Maintain current market pricing, subcontractor intelligence and tender statistics
• Support and mentor other Estimators within the Pre-Contracts team

What we're looking for

You'll bring strong civil construction estimating knowledge and the commercial mindset to understand not just what a project costs, but how to build and win it.

Ideally, you'll have:

• 5+ years' estimating experience within the construction industry
• Strong experience estimating civil infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated experience managing complex tender bids
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, labour, plant, materials and subcontractor markets
• Experience completing detailed quantity take-offs
• The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation
• Experience identifying and managing tender and contract risk
• Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail
• Confident communication skills with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal delivery teams
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office
• Expert Estimation experience will be highly regarded
• A qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is preferred
