The role:

Join Sycle and play a key role in keeping our heavy vehicle fleet safe, compliant, and running at peak performance. Reporting to the Asset Reliability & Engineering team, you'll be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of trucks while coordinating preventative maintenance, managing parts inventory, and supporting breakdown response. This hands-on role is ideal for an qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about safety, reliability, and continuous improvement. 

Your everyday:

  • Carrying out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on a fleet of heavy vehicles including prime movers, hook trucks, and heavy rigid vehicles.
  • Responding to breakdowns and vehicle faults, ensuring timely rectification and return to service.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules in line with OEM recommendations.
  • Ensure fleet compliance with NHVR, VicRoads, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and company requirements.
  • Record all maintenance and repair activities within the maintenance management system.
  • Liaise with operational managers regarding asset condition, servicing requirements, and vehicle stand-downs.
  • Coordinate external suppliers and subcontractors to achieve positive maintenance outcomes.

 

Who are you?

  • Trade Qualified as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Certificate III or equivalent).
  • Have a minimum 5 years' experience in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role.
  • Strong experience working on heavy vehicles, including prime movers, heavy rigid trucks, and hook trucks.
  • Proven ability to manage fleet maintenance programs and compliance requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and fault-finding skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience within the waste management, recycling, transport, or construction industries. (Desirable)
