The role:
As the Commissioning Manager, you will be the central point of coordination between construction teams, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers and project stakeholders. You will drive commissioning strategy, oversee testing activities and ensure all systems are commissioned in accordance with project specifications, safety requirements and contractual obligations.
This role will play a critical part in achieving project milestones and delivering a successful outcome for one of Victoria's major renewable energy developments.
Your everyday:
- Develop and implement commissioning strategies, execution plans and schedules aligned with key project milestones.
- Coordinate commissioning resources, specialist subcontractors, equipment suppliers and project stakeholders.
- Lead all pre-commissioning, commissioning, energisation and performance testing activities.
- Oversee the testing and commissioning of Solar PV arrays, inverters, communications systems and BESS infrastructure.
- Review and approve commissioning procedures, test scripts, reports and quality documentation.
- Manage switching, isolations, permit-to-work systems and energisation processes safely and effectively.
- Champion a strong safety culture through risk assessments, pre-start reviews and compliance with site procedures.
- Monitor, manage and close out defects, punch-list items and commissioning-related issues.
- Act as the primary point of contact for commissioning activities, facilitating meetings and providing regular stakeholder updates.
- Maintain accurate commissioning records and reporting, ensuring all documentation is completed, compliant and properly archived.
Who are you?
- A current A-Grade Electrical Licence (essential).
- 5+ years' experience working on renewable energy projects.
- Previous experience leading commissioning activities on utility-scale solar projects.
- Exposure to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) commissioning highly regarded.
- Experience working within EPC project environments.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and grid compliance requirements.
- Excellent planning, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A safety-first mindset and a proven ability to lead commissioning teams in a live project environment.
