Make it yours
Experience the excitement of building your estimating career in our evolving construction company, where people and performance make amazing things happen.
Who we are
We're Locale, a proud part of the Symal Group, delivering essential civil construction and utility projects that help connect communities and keep critical infrastructure running.
We innovate with intent, solving problems and delivering the best outcomes for our clients, communities and each other. Our success is built on strong relationships, technical expertise and a commitment to doing things the right way.
It's not what we do that defines us, it's how we do it, building better together.
The role
We're looking for an experienced Estimator to join the Locale team and play a key role in securing and setting up successful projects.
Working closely with Project Managers, suppliers and delivery teams, you'll lead the estimating and tendering process from initial enquiry through to submission and project handover. You'll prepare accurate cost estimates, identify commercial and delivery risks, and help develop practical construction methodologies that support successful project delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who enjoys ownership, collaboration and contributing to a growing business delivering complex civil and utility infrastructure projects.
Your everyday:
- Lead the end-to-end tender and estimating process, ensuring high-quality and compliant submissions are delivered on time.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates covering labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
- Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing to secure competitive and commercially sound outcomes.
- Work closely with operations teams to identify risks and develop practical construction methodologies and delivery strategies.
- Support successful project delivery through detailed commercial handovers, including budgets, assumptions, procurement status and key project risks.
Who are you?
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Previous estimating experience within civil construction, utilities, infrastructure or related industries.
- Strong understanding of quantity take-offs, tender preparation, pricing and commercial risk management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build strong supplier and client relationships.
- Highly organised with strong analytical skills, commercial acumen and attention to detail.
