Ready to take your civil construction experience off site and into a strategic pre-construction role?
This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator, Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, Project Manager or Construction Manager to bring their delivery expertise into a high-impact office-based position.
Based in Eight-Mile Plains, this is a genuine Monday–Friday role with no FIFO, no site travel and home every night — while still giving you the opportunity to work on major civil infrastructure projects and play a key role in winning the work that shapes the future of the business.
The Opportunity
Join Symal's growing pre-construction team and take ownership of the full tender lifecycle for major civil infrastructure projects, typically valued at $20M+.
We're looking for someone who understands how projects are actually built — someone who can look beyond the numbers, challenge methodology, identify risk and develop commercially sound solutions.
Your project delivery experience could be exactly what makes you successful in estimating.
You'll work closely with senior leadership, operations and delivery teams to develop competitive tenders, identify opportunities and help secure the next generation of major projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end tender preparation and submissions
- Develop construction methodologies, staging and programs
- Prepare and review cost plans and estimates
- Assess project risks, opportunities and commercial considerations
- Lead subcontractor engagement and pricing strategies
- Collaborate with operations, delivery and leadership teams
- Present tenders and participate in client discussions
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to team development
- Ensure effective handover of successful projects to the delivery team
Who We're Looking For

What matters most is your civil infrastructure experience, commercial mindset and ability to understand how projects are planned, priced and delivered.
You'll Bring
- Proven experience delivering or estimating civil infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of construction methodology, staging and risk
- Commercial and contractual awareness
- Strong cost planning and analytical capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and delivery teams
- Leadership capability and a willingness to mentor others
- A genuine interest in moving your career further into pre-construction and estimating
